Workshop / Production Manager

Run the Cambridge production unit end to end. Own daily activities of the workshop, the production plan, the safety of the people on the floor, and the quality of every machine that ships. Lead Oomph through ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation.

Key responsibilities

  • Own daily activities of the workshop building complex electromechanical machines
  • Produce and manage the production plan across new builds, commissioning, service and field returns
  • Line-manage the workshop team and coordinate technical subcontract manufacturers
  • Act as the workshop's Responsible Person for health and safety
  • Lead the introduction of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 across the business
  • Diagnose field failures and drive root-cause fixes back into the build standard

Essential

  • 5+ years in a hands-on electromechanical, electrical or power-systems production environment, with at least 2 years leading a team
  • Track record producing and managing production plans in a build-to-order or low-volume / high-mix workshop
  • Demonstrable experience implementing or maintaining ISO 9001
  • Strong HSE mindset; safe systems of work, RAMS, UK H&S legislation
  • Confident across electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and controls / BMS documentation
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Battery or EV industry experience
  • ISO 9001 / 14001 lead or internal auditor qualification
  • C&G 2391 or equivalent
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Mobile plant, trailers or containerised systems
